Carbon Footprint Calculation According to GHG Protocol & ISO 14064-1 Standards
We use the most reliable and internationally valid methods to help organizations manage their carbon footprint:
GHG Protocol (Greenhouse Gas Protocol): Based on globally accepted greenhouse gas reporting standards, we determine companies' operational limits and emission sources.
ISO 14064-1 Standards: We calculate the direct and indirect emissions of organizations in 3 basic scopes (Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3):
Scope 1: Direct greenhouse gas emissions of the company (e.g., company vehicles, manufacturing facilities).
Scope 2: Indirect emissions from energy consumption such as electricity, steam, heat and cooling.
Scope 3: Supply chain, logistics, employee travel and other indirect emissions.
Border Carbon Adjustment Mechanism (BCDM) Statement
The Border Carbon Adjustment Mechanism (BCDM), developed by the European Union (EU) in line with its climate policies, is a system that aims to cost imported products based on their carbon footprint. This mechanism aims to prevent carbon leakage, incentivize low-emission production, and ensure fair competition in international trade.
SKDM Application Process
1. Transitional Period (2023-2025):
Importing companies are obliged to report the carbon emissions of products entering the EU.
No financial obligation is imposed during this process, only reporting is done.
2. Commencement of Financial Obligations (2026-2034):
From 2026 onwards, it will be mandatory to obtain certification based on the carbon content of imported products.
Free allowances in the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS) will be phased out.
By 2034, full cost calculations based on carbon content will be implemented.
SKDM Compliance Process for Companies
There is a risk of market loss for companies producing high emissions.
Low-carbon production and supply chain management are becoming critical.
Carbon footprint calculations will be mandatory, manufacturers must optimize their processes.
Türkiye's low emissions advantage could provide a competitive advantage in the EU market.
As companies that focus on sustainable production gain a competitive edge, compliance with environmental standards becomes increasingly important.
